Starting Small

Chateau Elan

Hopefully you read the blog "Where Do We Go From Here?" and it lead you to this page. I've come across many that think one has to be rich to travel. That's not the case. Of course, you do need money but not as much as most think. Part of my motto is start small...the crawl phase. Do you have to stay at the Ritz Carlton every time? Just keep your eye on the prize. Hope this blog inspires you.

A holiday getaway.

Chateau Elan is a wonderful winery and resort in Braselton, GA. A very exquisite place. One year for Independence Day, my husband and I indulged in an overnight stay there. This would be very different for us. Usually, we'd watch fireworks somewhere downtown. This time, we'd enjoy a great display right at the resort. How special is that? Sitting right on the lawn while partaking in the festivities. This would be fabulous.

Inexpensive stay.

Since it was a holiday special, the overnight stay was less than $150 (including taxes)*. In addition, the package included a full gourmet breakfast buffet for two and all the hotel amenities. Seeing the resort is a winery as well, a bottle of wine from the vineyards was included with the cost of the room. Considering we lived over an hour away, this was the perfect getaway for the summer holiday.

I know someone is reading this saying, “Well, that was just overnight.” If it helps, we’ve used similar packages at this same resort for weekend getaways; date night packages priced at $99-$129 per night. The total cost being just below $360, even with purchasing lunch and dinner. Remember, this started with saving $15 every two weeks.

When is the last time you had a getaway?

If you haven’t spent quality time with your loved one, something as simple as a resort, might be a great solution. Heck, its a nice start. Continue to keep your eye on the prize. Crawl, walk then run. Take “Historic Steps.”

*Please note, this holiday stay at the resort was many years ago. The specials may not be as low in cost but they do still exist.
